The best teams of the season will battle it out in a thrilling knockout format, with semifinals and finals all decided in a single day. That means six high-stakes matches packed with action, atmosphere, and top-class judo. Among the athletes are European, World, and Olympic medalists, guaranteeing a day full of world-class performances. A total of eight clubs have made it to Wuppertal – four women’s teams and four men’s teams – and among them are five teams proudly wearing IPPONGEAR.
About the Teams

JSV Speyer (Women)
The reigning champions are back to defend their crown for the first time wearing IPPONGEAR, with titles in 2015, 2019, and 2024. Their line-up is stacked with international stars: Olympic and double World Champion Barbara Matić (CRO), 2024 World Champion and Olympic medalist Odette Giuffrida (ITA), as well as Germany’s power duo, World bronze medalist Mascha Ballhaus (GER) and current European Champion Seija Ballhaus (GER).
TSG Backnang

Another new IPPONGEAR team, a true Bundesliga powerhouse with five national titles. TSG Backnang’s last title came in 2023. This season they’ve been nearly unstoppable, winning seven matches and drawing once — against none other than JSV Speyer. Backnang brings serious heavyweight power with Anna-Maria Wagner (GER), Anna Monta Olek (GER), and Alina Böhm (GER), plus international aces like Sanne van Dijke (NED) and Lubjana Piovesana (AUT).
TSV Abensberg

The record champions with 23 Bundesliga titles are back on the hunt. Abensberg went undefeated this season, led by a world-class international squad: Georgian heroes Temur Nozadze (GEO), Vazha Margvelashvili (GEO), Luka Maisuradze (GEO), and Ilia Sulamanidze (GEO), alongside Nils Stump (SUI) and Martti Puumalainen (FIN). Add their strong German core, and it’s clear: Abensberg is chasing title number 24.
JSV Speyer (Men)
The JSV Speyer men’s team have never won the Bundesliga Final Four. This year they won six of seven matches, losing only to TSV Abensberg. Speyer is known for a strong domestic core complemented by international fighters, which brings stability on match day. A few names to mention: Philip Müller (GER) in −73 kg, known for consistent performances, and Irakli Kupatadze (GEO), who often delivers early wins.
UKJC Potsdam

The young guns! Potsdam have never lifted the trophy, but their upset win against reigning champions Remscheider TV this season proved their potential. With heavyweights like Erik Abramov (GER), consistent winners like Martin Setz (GER), and international stars Krisztián Tóth (HUN) and Ivaylo Ivanov (BUL), this passionate squad is ready to surprise. Could 2025 be their year?
