FLORENTINO AND MATEO WIN GOLD IN FRONT OF HOME CROWD

This weekend, there were another two events on the calendar. First of all, the Pan American Open in Santa Domingo.

Robert Florentino, junior world silver medalist, shined on homeground as he managed to reach the final. Here he faced American Olympian Colton Brown and by halftime he had defeated him. Again he shows that he has made a good transition into seniors and we cannot wait to see him fight in Baku.

Also, there was another gold for the home crowd as Wander Mateo won the -66 kg. He won all of his fights with ippon and got the work done quickly so he could stand on top of the podium listening to the national anthem at home in Santo Domingo.

Another Gold medals went to team mate Medickson Del Orbe Cortorreal. Another Carribean training in Valencia (Spain) who rushed through the field winning all his fights with Ippon.

2 more Gold medals for Estefania Soriano and Eiraima Silvestre, 3 Silver medals for Lewis Medina, Moira Morillo and Ana Rosa plus 5 Bronze medal finishes for Jose Nova Alcantara, Daniel Santos, Emely Bautista, Luisa Jimenez and Ariela Sanchez completed an impressive performance of the Dom Rep Team finishing on first spot of the overal medal ranking.

US-BOY AGOGLIA WITH FIRST IJF MEDAL

David Agoglia fought his first international event on senior level and showed that he is a youngster to look out for. He ended his day with a silver medal in the -60 kg category. A good preparation for the Junior World Championships in Nassau in October.

Also, Ashlyn White placed fifth just right outside the podium while Nathaniel Keeve placed 7th.

ASIAN GAMES BRONZE FOR USTOPIRIYON

On the other side of the World, the Asian Games was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Here we saw Komronshokh Ustopiriyon reach the podium as he finished the day with a bronze medal.

We look forward to seeing the Ippon Gear athletes in Baku for the World Championships in 3 weeks time.
