Back-to-back medals for Sanchez, Böhm and Olek

This weekend, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year was held in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. It proved to be yet another succesful weekend for Team IPPONGEAR, as five athletes were able to come away with a medal.

Ayumi Leiva Sanchez: Silver in the weight category -52 kg

Ayumi Leiva Sanchez has been skyrocketing up the World Ranking List this year and it looks like she has no intention of slowing down. This weekend, the 22 years old Spanish athlete made it all the way to the final in the -52 kg category and in the end of the day was able to claim a silver medal - Her third consecutive Grand Slam medal this year. What a record! There is no doubt that the future is bright for this young lady.

Alina Böhm: Silver in the weight category -78 kg

For the second weekend in a row, Team IPPONGEAR could be proud to have two athletes represented on the podium in the weight category -78 kg: German duo Alina Böhm and Anna Monta Olek.

Alina Böhm could celebrate winning the 10th Grand Slam medal of her career, as she picked up a silver medal in the category -78 kg. Böhm is always one to watch in this weight category and she seem to be in great shape for the new Olympic Cycle.

Anna Monta Olek: Bronze in the weight category -78 kg

Böhm could share the podium with fellow IPPONGEAR athlete and German teammate Anna Monta Olek, who could celebrate coming away with a bronze medal. Despite being just 22 years of age, Olek already has an impressive track record on the IJF World Tour and has only once in her career left a Grand Slam empty-handed.

There is no doubt that Team Germany has some of the most dominating athletes in the -78 kg weight category - A statement which was once again confirmed this weekend. We are delighted to have welcomed these incredible athletes to Team IPPONGEAR.

Iva Oberan: Bronze in the weight category -63 kg

Croatia’s Iva Oberan could be thrilled to pick up a bronze medal in the -63 kg category. Oberan narrowly missed out on a spot at the Paris Olympic Games but started the new Olympic Cycle in style by clinching two back-to-back IJF World Tour medals last fall. This weekend, she secured her first medal of the year and showed that she is back in business in 2025.

Giovanna Scoccimarro: Bronze in the weight category -70 kg

In the -70 kg category, a bronze medal went to Giovanna Scoccimarro from Germany. The former Vice-World Champion could be happy to claim her first medal at the IJF World Tour in almost two years and show that she, as well, is ready to battle in the new Olympic Cycle.

Congratulations to our strong Team IPPONGEAR ladies for the great performances this weekend. We are proud of you!
