Champions of Tomorrow: European Junior Championships in The Hague Showcase European Judo Talent

The picturesque city of The Hague, Netherlands, played host to the EJU European Junior Championships this past weekend, where the future stars of the European judo gathered to demonstrate their talent on the mat. With 43 nations and 366 athletes in attendance, the tournament promised intense fights, and it did not disappoint.

Day 1: A Promising Start

The opening day set the stage for an action-packed weekend. In the -60 kg category, Yehonatan Veksler from Israel showcased his skills, securing a well-deserved silver medal. Armenia's Ashik Andreyan, also in the same category, displayed his strength and technique, clinching the bronze.

Portugal's Miguel Gago added to the excitement by claiming a bronze medal in the -66 kg category, displaying his remarkable determination and talent.

Day 2: British Triumph, Austrian Joy and Ukrainian Excellence

The second day of the championships witnessed Great Britain's Luke Davies emerge victorious, earning a bronze medal in the -73 kg category.

Ukraine's Igor Tsurkan continued his success story with a silver medal in the -81 kg category. His remarkable performance demonstrated his potential to become a future judo champion.

Austria's Elena Dengg brought home a bronze medal in the -70 kg category, showcasing her big talent during this prestigious event.

Day 3: A Remarkable Closing Act

As the championships approached their end, the excitement reached a fever pitch. Yuliia Kurchenko from Ukraine demonstrated her consistency, earning her a bronze medal in the -78 kg category. Her medal in The Hague added another chapter to her impressive record after winning an impressive Silver medal during the recent IJF Senior Grand Prix in Zagreb.

In the heavyweight category, Giannis Antoniou from Cyprus proved his potential by securing a silver medal in the +100 kg division, illustrating that judo talent knows no size limits.

IPPONGEAR Team: 8 medals, 7 nations

Hailing from seven different nations, these athletes showcased their individual talents and potential in The Hague. The IPPONGEAR team's combined efforts resulted in a total of 8 medals, spanning a wide range of weight categories and nations. These young athletes are undoubtedly the future of the sport.
