DOUBLE GOLD FOR IPPONGEAR TEAMS AT THE BUNDESLIGA FINAL FOUR!

In front of a packed crowd of 3,500 judo fans at the Uni-Halle, the 2025 Bundesliga Final Four delivered an unforgettable show. And at the end of an incredible day, two IPPONGEAR teams stood proudly at the top of the podium, TSG Backnang and UJKC Potsdam.

In their very first Bundesliga title win, UJKC Potsdam wrote history with a hard-fought 8:6 victory over defending champions Remscheider TV. After the opening round, Potsdam held a narrow 4:3 lead thanks to strong wins from Martin Setz (GER), Tim Gramkow (GER), Tim Schmid (GER) and Ivaylo Ivanov (BUL).

The tension reached its peak in the second round. Every point mattered until the decisive moment came in the heavyweight category between Krisztian Toth (HUN) and Losseni Koné (GER). After an exhausting 8 minutes and 22 seconds of battle, Toth triumphed by penalties, extending the lead to 7:5. Shortly after, Ivanov sealed the deal with another victory, the final score: 8:6!

A sensational performance that brings UJKC Potsdam their first-ever German Championship title

The IPPONGEAR teams TSV Abensberg and JSV Speyer earned bronze in the German Bundesliga after a sensational season. We’re incredibly proud of their performance and thrilled to see them compete among the FINAL FOUR!

The women’s final was just as electric featuring two IPPONGEAR teams, defending Champions JSV Speyer and TSG Backnang. Both teams proved once again why they are the powerhouse teams on the women's side.  After the first round, they led 4:3 with wins from Alina Böhm (GER), Katharina Menz (GER), Joanne van Lieshout (NED) and Anna-Maria Wagner (GER).

In round two, Alina Böhm and Friederike Stolze (GER) extended the lead to 6:3 before Anna Monta Olek (GER) secured the decisive point, sealing an 8:6 victory over JSV Speyer. With this result, JSV Speyer claimed the silver medal in the 2025 season, while TSG Backnang celebrated their sixth Bundesliga title, adding to their previous triumphs in 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

It was also an emotional day for two-time World Champion and Olympic Bronze Medalist Anna-Maria Wagner, who stepped onto the tatami for the very last time. “It’s an incredibly great feeling to end my career here in Germany, in front of these fans,” Wagner said in an interview with SWR. “I’m looking forward to a relaxed, self-determined everyday life.” An unforgettable farewell for one of judo’s greatest.

We couldn’t be prouder of TSG Backnang and UJKC Potsdam for their incredible performances, as well as all our IPPONGEAR Teams and athletes who participated in this amazing events. Congratulations!
