Excellent performance of team IPPONGEAR at IJF Judo Grand Slam in Baku

Last weekend, the prestigious IJF Judo Grand Slam took place in Baku, Azerbaijan. This top-class event attracted 441 judoka from 61 countries, including numerous IPPONGEAR athletes who secured a total of seven medals.

Reka Pupp: Bronze in the 52 kg weight class

The hungarian Judoka Reka Pupp once again earned a place on the podium, winning the bronze medal in the weight class up to 52 kg. Her performance confirms her sustained top form in this weight category.

Shamil Borchashvili: Silver in the 81 kg weight class

After a hand injury, Austrian fighter Shamil Borchashvili made an impressive comeback to win the silver medal in the 81 kg weight class. He is expected to be a strong contender in the remaining events of 2023.

Szofi Ozbas: Silver in the 63 kg weight class

Young Hungarian athlete Szofi Ozbas impressed everyone by winning the silver medal in the 63 kg weight class. This success catapulted her into the top 10 of the world rankings in her weight category.

Krisztian Toth: Bronze in the 90 kg weight class

Another Hungarian athlete, Krisztian Toth, reached the podium by winning the bronze medal in the 90 kg weight class. His consistent successes solidify his position in the top 10 of the world rankings.

Barbara Matic: Bronze in the 70 kg weight class

Reigning world champion Barbara Matic from Croatia once again displayed her class by winning the bronze medal in the 70 kg weight class. This time, she placed ahead of her teammate Lara Cvjetko, who finished fifth. The battle for the Olympic ticket for Croatia in this weight class remains exciting.

Anna-Maria Wagner: Gold in the 78 kg weight class

Germany's Anna-Maria Wagner proved to be unstoppable on that day, winning the gold medal in the 78 kg weight class. The former 2021 world champion and bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics makes it clear that she is still a force to be reckoned with in this weight class.

Rochelle Nunes: Silver in the over 78 kg weight class

Portugal's Rochelle Nunes impressed with a silver medal in the weight class +78 kg making a significant jump in the world rankings.

In total, the IPPONGEAR team earned an impressive total of seven medals, securing important qualification points for the athletes on their journey to the Paris Olympics.
