Following a tough semifinal loss against South Korea, the German team came back stronger than ever in the bronze medal match against Italy. Italy, who had powered through repechage with wins over Uzbekistan, came in with momentum but Germany, showing true unity and fighting spirit, rose to the occasion.
A standout of the day was Eduard Trippel, who proved once again why he’s one of Germany’s most reliable team athletes in the –90 kg category. Trippel opened the day with an impressive victory over World Bronze Medalist Eljan Hajiyev of Azerbaijan, setting the tone early in Germany’s first contest. In the bronze medal match, he delivered once again—this time defeating reigning European Champion Christian Parlati of Italy in decisive fashion.“I felt a lot of pressure, but none from my team,” Trippel shared after the event. “They told me, ‘You’ve had a great day,’ and that gave me confidence. In the end, I was part of the team winning our World Bronze Medal—it couldn’t feel better.”
