On the fifth day of action at the Olympic Games in Paris, Team IPPONGEAR had every reason to be proud, as Barbara Matic wrote history for Croatia when she became the first ever Croatian Olympic champion in judo.

Barbara Matic of Croatia has had a terrific season and has not missed out on a medal in almost a year. Going into her third Olympic Games, the Croat was among the absolute top favourites to win Olympic gold in the -70 kg category and today she proved that she is the undisputed number one in the -70 kg category. Former double World Champion, European Champion and multiple times Grand Slam winner - There was only jewel missing in the crown of Barbara Matic: the Olympic title. Today she managed to exceed the expectations in style, to raise the flag for Croatia and write herself into the history books as the first ever Croat to win Olympic gold in judo.
